Happy Late Equinox!

While it was officially a few days ago, it is now officially the change of the seasons, and we are just starting to feel hints of spring here in my neck of the woods.

This month, a new Percy James Mystery is out! And a little update on the Kickstarter and next Dragon Thief story.

First up, Percy and the Azur Regent return with a new mystery to solve. Those of you who enjoy this series and pick up this book, be sure to read the Thank You afterward. I talk about a passing comment in the story that was based on something that really happened. I'll say no more to avoid spoilers.

MATCHES MIGHT MENACE
A Percy James Mystery

Welcome to the Azur Regent

Summer heats up at the Azur Regents. The perfect blend of activity for front desk clerk, Percy James. She loves this time of year. The busy schedule. The myriad interesting guests. The buzz and life. Not so much the heat and humidity of the heat wave sweeping through the New York City streets. But the Azur Regent keeps the air conditioning on high, and the tourists comfortable.

Most of the tourists anyway.

In the hospitality game, difficult guests and troubled travelers pop up daily. Part of the life. Until those troubles bring danger. Then Percy and the staff must confront the heat. Because if things don’t cool down, someone could die.

~~

MATCHES MIGHT MENACE is out everywhere in eBook, and also a print edition is currently available my store and Amazon. I haven't gotten around to releasing them wide yet. HOWEVER, the whole series is in the schedule to make sure they're all available in print from other booksellers. I'll update when they go wide.

***

Quick update on the Kickstarter. Thanks to the usual business of life, I'm moving the launch of the Kickstarter to May. I want to make sure it's fun and fully put together and I'm behind on it because of getting stuck in Ireland after the Olympics in Italy (long story). So the Kickstarter will launch in May now.

For email reminders when it goes live, please follow the prelaunch page and Kickstarter will let you know as soon as it launches. I'll also post about it here.

***

Because I'm moving the Kickstarter around, I will likely be moving the publishing date of the next Dragon Thief story up to the end of April. Originally, it was on the schedule for May 10th, but since I haven't gotten the preorder up yet, it can come out in April without issue. *grin* An early spring surprise.

So! Look out for THE CHAIN JOB, Book 12 in the Dragon Thief series next month! More on that in the next update.

***

Finally, a little reminder to visit the Café at KatSimonsBooks for the latest short story: ANGIE AT THE CAFE! Where we get to see our favorite Demon Witch just hanging out being a witch, solving witchy problems in uniquely witchy ways. Free to read until the end of March!

Until next month, happy reading!

July 16, 2024

Happy July!

We have hit the crest of the year and are on the downward slope now! LOL. Which feels really weird since 2024 has so far felt quite long and equally has flown by. Another year around the sun!

This month, I have a new Percy James book out! Details below. I'm almost to enough Percy James Mysteries that I can put them together in a collection so my paperback readers can pick them up if they like. Look out for that some time in 2025 (I just scared myself typing that).

The other release this month is a standalone eBook from last year's HAUNTS AND HOWLS collection. This one is I Just Ate A Bug. If you want to pick it up as a standalone, I have an explanation for that title in the Thank You at the end of the story <grin> I Just Ate A Bug is out July 30th and available for preorder now!

REPLICAS RISK RUIN
A Percy James Mystery

Welcome to the Azur Regent

February brings calm and quiet to the Azur Regent. But for a sleep deprived Percy James, she could do with a little more excitement. Or a night’s sleep. A full night’s sleep would really help. With her baby niece sick and her sister losing her mind over the baby’s first cold, Percy starts to feel like a walking zombie.

She even starts imagining things with one of the few guests staying at the hotel. Percy prides herself on her cheerful work ethic. Seeing suspicious things where none exist proves she needs more than makeup to cover the circles under her eyes.

Fortunately, working at a hotel comes with perks. A night of uninterrupted, undisturbed sleep will put Percy back to rights.

Except nothing at the Azur Regent is ever that simple. Even a night’s sleep.

I JUST ATE A BUG

OUT JULY 30th

Fighting an alien invasion requires a good appetite…

I’m an out of work dog walker who never expected to confront the end of the world in my lifetime. Especially not when that end of the world comes in the form of an alien invasion. Who expects that to happen for real, right? But there you have it. Aliens. Invading Earth.

And only a rough band of us humans to defend the entire planet.

With the only weapons we have.

If we can stomach using it.

Author’s Note: This story is also published in the collection HAUNTS AND HOWLS AND JESTERS BELLS.

NEWS AND UPDATES

So! My website seems to be doing most things the way it's supposed to again, but I'm still leery. I'm not prepared to move the whole thing at the moment. But I am going to start changing the back pages so they all direct to the store. You won't have to shop there, of course! But I keep it updated with new releases and back list titles, and I'll start including the universal links on the various book pages (once I figure out how to *grin*).

Just in general, I'd prefer to only have to update one site with all the details. I realized recently I'm very behind on updating another of my websites. Obviously, I need to simplify!

This page will continue to be here! And I will continue to update the main page monthly (or more). But the back pages with all the books in various genres will eventually point to the pages at the store to make life simpler. Again, I don't expect people to only shop at my store (though I'd love it if you wanted to!!). In fact, I'm happy for people to pick my books up from wherever suits them, including libraries!, and just use my website or store to keep up with what's out and reading orders and things.

This change over will take me time and probably won't be visible to visitors to the site until Fall of 2024. Maybe later. Depends on other aspects of the business. But I wanted to give you all a heads up well in advance of the change, so you'll know it's coming.

~~

Speaking of the store, though, I have some new Merchandise up now that's great fun! Consider going over to check it out! And I'm slowly getting the paperbacks up there too, and ensuring the shipping is set up right. So before the end of the year, it'll be a great resource for keeping up to date on all my releases anyway.

AND sometime in 2025, I'll start adding my alter ego Isabo Kelly to the store and all her books. So that's something to look out for, too.

~~

Looking ahead to next month, I have the fourth Dragon Thief book out! And I'll have another standalone eBook for a story from HAUNTS AND HOWLS AND JESTERS BELLS. Both stories are up everywhere for preorder now, so if you're eager to ensure they're in your reader the day of, go check that out now!

Until next month, I hope you're enjoying the season!

Happy Reading!

November Coziness

Technically, my release this month isn't a "cozy mystery" because it's set in New York City, which is not small town enough to be a small town. *grin* But I feel like the Percy James Mysteries have a bit of a cozy vibe to them. And they are definitely a love letter to New York City.

This month, the latest Percy James adventure at the Azur Regent sees our intrepid heroine working in the days leading up to New Years Eve when some mysterious shenanigans ensue at the hotel. Diamonds Do Damage is out now in eBook everywhere. Don't miss it!

DIAMONDS DO DAMAGE
A Percy James Mystery

Welcome to the Azur Regent

New Years Eve in New York City always bustles with tourists and locals alike enjoying the event and celebrating the winter holidays. And at the Azur Regent, Percy James juggles the chaos and crowds eagerly, happy to help those coming to her city to enjoy the sights and celebrate another turn around the sun.

But a small disruption to the routine, one guest not checking out when they should, throws the delicate balance of the busy hotel into disarray. And when that missing guest has nefarious secrets to hide, Percy and the staff must uncover the truth…

Before the clock strikes twelve.

NEWS

A little update on KatSimonsBooks. I have paperbacks coming very soon!

I'm working my way through uploading my catalogue, and I need to work out some details, but within the next month you will start to see the first trade paperbacks appearing in the store.

At the moment, I've just managed to get the regular trade sized books uploaded. It will take a little more time to get all the large print editions up, but they're in the schedule now. So very soon all the paperbacks will be available through the store, too.

Now, that said, it looks so far like the books can only be delivered in the US, Canada, UK, and Europe. Those are some details I'm still working out. Fingers crossed they will be available in more places in the near future (especially for my Australian and New Zealand readers! I am thinking about you with all this.) I'll keep the information at the store updated and posts updates here as I have more information.

Pickles is also hiding on the site again this month with a present for anyone who finds her. *grin*

~~

Finally, I just wanted to remind you all about the Holiday Spectacular, which officially starts in a little over a week. This is a super cool calendar of winter holiday stories. You'll receive one a day from US Thanksgiving through New Years day. It's so much fun, I really hope you'll consider subscribing. The various authors that Kris Rusch (the editor of the Spectacular) gets into the collection every year are so good. (I'm incredibly flattered to have a story in this this year's Spectacular because of how awesome the other authors are!)

Even if you missed the Kickstarter (or aren't big into doing Kickstarters), you can still subscribe to the calendar at WMG Publishing. There's also a fantastic and adorable Holiday Spectacular Store with all the gorgeous holiday merchandise as well as ways to subscribe to the current calendar or pick up any of the past calendars in their various collections.

Until next month, Happy Reading!

Two Releases and I'm really bad at post titles...

Every month, I find myself trying for something either descriptive or even a little pithy for the titles of these posts. And every month, I fail miserably. Just so you know. I am bad at titles. And that includes website page titles. LOL.

Anyway, happy June! This month, I have two novella eBook releases.

The first is the standalone release of a Cary Redmond novella, previously published in the A Very Cary Holiday collection. The second is a new short novella in a soft-boiled, amateur sleuth mystery series I've been playing in!

CARY'S BELTANE NIGHT OUT
A Cary Redmond Novella

Out June 13th

Beltane, bonfires, magic…and human sacrifice?

When Cary Redmond ends up at a Beltane celebration with her best friend, the witch Angie Jordan, Cary knows she’s in for an interesting night. Trouble swirls in the air right alongside the campfire smell. Magic and danger and people to protect. All in a night’s work for a magical Protector and her powerful best friend. But Cary gets a lot more than she bargains for.

A field full of bespelled pagans trying to throw themselves into a giant bonfire only starts a night of deadly danger. Because inside that fire, the real threat lurks. A threat impossible to destroy.

And if Cary can’t figure out what’s going on in time, a lot of people will burn.

MOVIES MAY MURDER
A Percy James Mystery

Out June 27th

Welcome to the Azur Regent

Percy James rarely trudges through a dull day at her job as a front desk clerk of a small boutique hotel on the Upper East Side. New York City draws all kinds, and a lot of the more interesting people end up at the Azur Regent. Percy loves the variety. Always a story to tell. Always something interesting happening.

But sometimes things can get maybe a little too interesting.

Because even small boutique hotels turn up occasional trouble. Like the guest room covered in blood.

Uncovering the culprit and keeping the other guests safe, all while not getting reprimanded by her boss… Percy will count that as a good day at work.

So long as no one dies.

~~

Quick note about paperback prices: Amazon has had to raise their printing costs this month and that has necessitated raising some of my print book prices. This mostly affects the Large Print paperback editions. I have tried to keep the prices as reasonable as possible. And where I can, I've kept the prices the same (this is essentially true across the board with the Trade paperback editions). There might be some hardback price increases as well. Just a heads-up if you notice a price increase.

Next month: I have an sort of experimental thing releasing. I don't want to say too much about it yet until I have it put together, but it's a collection of stories, and there are dragons... More in July!

Until then, enjoy the start of summer, or winter depending on your hemisphere.

May Days and a New Release

Happy May! This is my birthday month, so I'm celebrating by being run around ragged by school kids and their activities. LOL. There will also be cake, though. Cake is always good.

I also have a new release out! Book 3 in the Seven Families: Wolf Series is out in eBook, trade paperback, and large print editions.

NOTE on the print editions: There were some issues at both of the print distributors this time around, which means the print books are releasing slowly. I will add more links to this post and to the book's listing on the Paranormal Romance page as I get them. I'll also add the print links to the universal link (the All Other EBook Vendors link) as I get them. Sorry for the delay. Seems there's been a lot of hiccups in that part of the production schedule lately.

FATED IN STONE
A Seven Families Novel
Seven Families: Wolf Book 3

Trade Paperback: Amazon | B&NAngus & Robertson | Indie Bound

Will one mistake destroy their future…

Benjamin Logan has fought monsters for more than three hundred years, knowing one day he’ll be granted his promised mate, his true love, the one fated to break his curse. But meeting her in the middle of a deadly battle with a monster and its human minions topples all Ben’s plans. To save her, he makes one of the biggest mistakes of his life. A mistake that could cost him everything.

Elle Barker finds people for a living, tracking down missing loved ones for people out of options. Using her psychic skills, Elle discovers her newest target held captive in a compound that holds terrifying monsters unlike anything she’s ever seen. Out of her depth and desperate, Elle must overcome her suspicious nature to trust the one man who knows how to survive the deadly creatures. Only to learn he’s not what he seems either.

To survive, Ben and Elle must work together even as the building attraction between them overwhelms their common sense. With the world at risk, and the monsters getting stronger, their own feelings must take a backseat. But saving their future and stopping a horrifying plot, means accepting their bond…

Before it’s too late.

Website Updates

So I've gotten most of the updates to the website taken care of. You'll notice the menu links now organize everything by genre and that organization matches (for the most part) the bookstore, Kat Simons Books. I hope that makes things a little easier for readers.

The top of each genre page is just a list of the books by series or standalone, and then the details about each book are listed below that. So this can work as a quick reference check on a series, or a way to see more details about each book.

And all these same details are available at Kat Simons Books too, so you can just jump over there for more.

Upcoming

Next month, I'll have a standalone eBook release for a new Cary Redmond novella, the first time this story will be available on its own. Cary's Beltane Night Out is also currently available in the collect, A VERY CARY HOLIDAY, for my print readers, and those too impatient to wait for the standalone eBook until next month.

I'll also have the first short story in a new Mystery series I've been playing with. This was my experiment with an amateur sleuth, almost-but-not-quite-cozy mystery set in New York City (I know, cozy's aren't set in cities, that's why it's not quite a cozy *grin*). And it's been really fun to write! Movies May Murder, A Percy James Mystery will be out in eBook in June. And the next story in the series, Cookies Can't Crime, should be available in August. Check back for more on those!

Until next month, Happy Reading!
