HAPPY OCTOBER!!

Well and truly in the midst of the Halloween season now! And it's even feeling autumnal here in New York at the moment with cooler weather. I hope those of you in the southern hemisphere are getting your warm-up finally! Spring is just as groovy as autumn.

So for October, there's a lot happening. Two releases and a whole lot of sales!

First up, and OUT NOW, and perfect for spooky season, the next Haunts and Howls collection. HAUNTS AND HOWLS AND FAIRY DALES is my ode to, mostly Irish, fairytales. There's also a new Cary Redmond story and a new Friday's Curious Shop story in this collection!

Tread carefully through haunted dales where fairies dance…

For when the Fae are about, magic and mischief run free. Wild, unpredictable, neither friend nor fiend. Fairies cross the boundaries between light and dark, taking the unwary on rides through the impossible. The deadly.

And here, at the crossroads, in a shop, by a field, the Fae awaken terror and hope. Only the brave, or the luckless, dare tangle with these immortals. Hoping to survive the night.

Hunt the fairies. If you dare.

Myths, legends, and haunting tales dance through this collection of seven all new spooky contemporary fantasy stories from bestselling author Kat Simons. Don’t miss this latest in the Haunts and Howls series, including a brand new Cary Redmond novella.

HAUNTS AND HOWLS AND FAIRY DALES is out everywhere in eBook and Trade paperback and Large Print paperback editions. The paperbacks are, of course, still populating through everywhere, so keep checking on those. You can always swing by my store for paperbacks since I have those there now for some of the series, including Haunts and Howls. But at the moment, it's mostly the Trade paperbacks. I'm still working on moving the Large Print over.

Next up this month, and out today at my store, next week wide, the next Dragon Thief story!

THE FEMME FATALE JOB is a really fun addition to the series. Things are heating up with Maya and Christopher, and an unexpected guest drops in. Not a welcome one. Don't miss this latest in the series!

No one saw her coming…

After the last job for the dragon king, Myra vows never again. No more. But for Christopher, and for whatever these feelings developing between them might be… She can’t say no. Especially if the job involves a damsel in distress. Myra’s dragon shifter prince just can’t resist rescuing people in trouble. And when he needs a thief to do that, Myra happily jumps in. The job might be skirting the line between working for the dragon king and not working for the dragon king, but Myra willingly walks that line for Christopher.

What starts out as a simple case of helping one woman rescue her career, though, quickly turns into something Myra never expected, something no one expected. A foe so deadly, so terrifying, that if they get this wrong, the entire island of Manhattan could burn.

Pitting a magical thief and her dragon shifter prince against one of the most terrifying creatures on the planet… How can they possibly survive?

By stealing something of course.

Before everything goes up in flames.

The sixth book in the series, THE SCAVENGER JOB, will be out in December! December 3rd at my store, up for preorder now, and December 10th wide, preorder most places now. This has a bit of a holiday, Christmas-y theme to it, and romance readers will finally get their payout for this slow burn romance! More details next month.

For my print readers, do not despair! I will have the full collection of this first season of Dragon Thief available in print in 2025. In fact, I am planning a fun Kickstarter for a special edition hardback as well as having some fancy paperbacks and an ordinary paperback edition. So print readers will get all the good stuff! More on that as I start setting things up, but there will be paperbacks, I promise.

SALES!!

This month there are a lot of books on sale at my store, some at deep discounts and some free. Don't miss out!

Also, I have THE TROUBLE WITH BLACK CATS AND DEMONS on sale now. Get this first in series in eBook FREE everywhere.

As is probably obvious, I'm still writing books in the Cary Redmond series, because they are fun for me and I love these characters. In fact, book 9 in the series is written and going to be going into editing soon for a 2025 release! I'll have more information about that when things start moving, but in the meantime, if you'd like to catch up on the series, this is a great time to pick up the first book.

~~

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

As promised I have completely decked out KatSimonsBooks for Halloween and even if you don't buy your books directly there, you really have to see the place. The main page feels like I tossed a bunch of black and orange sprinkles all over the place! LOL.

Next month, if I get everything lined up the way I'd like, I will have a little surprise launching at the store (which will include free reading!) I've been hinting, I know. But since November 1st is my particular witchy New Year's day, I feel like it's a good time to launch this new venture. Check the site in early November or check back here for more information!

And until next month, may your October treat you well and may there be all the fun and spooky things you might like for this month--costumes, treats, scary movies, and of course, scary reading!

Happy Reading!

May Days...and my Birthday Month!

Happy May! This is my birthday month and so normally is a pretty fun and exciting month for me. Mainly because of cake. The last five years, this month has been a bit weird, though, plagued with kid illnesses and Covid and such. So lately, I tense up coming into May. Fingers crossed this month is a good one on the personal level.

On the publishing level, however, it's a great month. I have two releases and a sale!

One release is the newest Cary Redmond novel, The Trouble with Shifters and Fae Courts, releasing from my store on May 14th!! If you couldn't back the Kickstarter in March, but still want the book a bit early, this is your chance! It's available from the store a full month before it releases wide.

Trouble is Back…

And taking her newfound skills on the road. Cary Redmond survived a lot in the last year. From her Seventh Year test as a magical Protector, to meeting her leopard shifter mate, to fending off a whole host of enemies. A trip to Scotland with Deacon presents a well-earned chance to rest and practice her new skills and powers. Even if meeting Deacon’s grandmother comes in the bargain.

But Trouble follows Cary wherever she goes, including all the way across the pond to Scotland. Where Deacon’s grandmother harbors a secret tie to the Fae, and rival Faery queens fight for dominion. Cary finds herself, once again, in the middle of powerful enemies, protecting everyone in the crossfire.

This time, though, if she fails, the cost could be the love of her life.

Because this time, Faery wants Deacon.

~~

As a heads up (and I may have mentioned already, but as a reminder), I am going to be releasing most things early at the story starting in 2025. Right now, the Dragon Thief series books are releasing a week early to my store (starting with next month's The Poisons Book Job), before releasing wide to all vendors. Everything else besides those books and the Cary Redmond novel will release to the store and wide at the same time this year. I will keep everyone updated on that shift, though!

~~

The second release this month is a brand new collection of action-adventure thriller stories with a touch of humor. And it is put together in an adorable package and I love it so much! This collection's title was inspired by the Lita Ford song Kiss Me Deadly, so every time I look at the cover, I sing that song in my head. LOL. Now I have given you an earworm, too. Sorry, not sorry.

This one is also out in a very cute hardback edition with a full jacket and everything. I just can't stand how much I love the packaging for this book! The stories themselves are great fun, too *grin* But I'm a bit silly over the packaging. This one is out on May 21st!

NEWS

As I mentioned above, next month The Trouble with Shifters and Fae Courts releases wide at all vendors. This is when the paperbacks will also be available for my print readers. Sorry to make you all wait! I'm still working out the print editions from my store and how to do the shipping and taxes end of things. I'm hoping to have this all sorted by 2025 when I start releasing from the store early!

Look out for Cary Redmond on June 18th!

I also have the next Dragon Thief story out. The Poisons Book Job is out from KatSimonsBooks on June 4th if you're impatient to see what Myra and Christopher get up to next! And then the book will release wide on June 11th.

All of the above is available for preorder now if you'd like to have the books land into your reading app on release day.

Another heads up: Preorders from my store are delivered via BookFunnel and they will be delivered directly to your BookFunnel account/app on release day, same as if you were preordering the book from any other vendor. You'll also still get an email from BookFunnel with the link, but you won't even have to worry about that!

Happy Reading!

Kat

Storms on the horizon call to demon nightmares…

Angie Jordan’s time as a demon hunter has proven two things to her. One, she’s not and never will be a hunter. And two, she’s not getting out of the demon world any time soon. The only shining light in that darkness is having the love of her life, Sebastian, back.

But after trouble last Halloween broke open new powers for Angie, controlling her growing magic proves too challenging to do alone. Her only hope at mastering the demon witch magic before it overwhelms her…help from her first mentor and teacher.

And that means a trip home to New Mexico.

Returning to her family brings unexpected dangers, though. Threats Angie thought she left behind in New York. And a confrontation with a mysterious enemy who threatens everything she loves.

Pushed into a corner, Angie will protect those closest to her, no matter the cost. But even Sebastian’s help might not be enough against their current enemies. And when Angie must face her worst nightmares, the biggest threat to those around her might not be the demons. The biggest threat…

Might be her.

NEWS and UPDATES

Next month (as it's what the Non-Die-Hards consider the start of spooky season) I have a bunch of things out.

First, there's the release of two standalone eBooks from last years Haunts and Howls collect, HAUNTS AND HOWLS WHERE DEMONS DWELL. Friday's Curious Shop will be out October 10th and The Museum of Small Arts Everyman will be out on Halloween!! My spookiest of spooky stories for Halloween. *grin* Check back next months for links!

And I have a brand new Haunts and Howls collection out in the middle of October! This one has a strange theme because it's a kind of two-fer.

HAUNTS AND HOWLS AND JESTERS BELLS has fantasy stories that are both light and humorous (my kind of humor so... you know, weird LOL) and spooky stories to go with the Haunts and Howls theme. And also because jesters are like clowns and clowns are scary!

There will also be sequel stories for two previous stories published in the last two Haunts and Howls books! If you haven't read the previous two collections, now's a good time to consider them.

Check back next month for all the details on the new releases. You can also find information about new releases at my fan store Kat Simons Books!

Until next month, enjoy the start of spooky season! (even though its still too hot up here in the Northern Hemisphere!)

Happy Reading!

~Kat

August Updates

I'm just going to give up on post titles. I'm terrible at them. LOL

This month I have a new short story release, a previously published novella releasing as a standalone eBook, and news about a sale.

First the standalone eBook. Anger Management originally appeared in HAUNTS AND HOWLS WHERE DEMONS DWELL. For my print readers, that's the edition to get. But if you prefer to pick up the individual story on its own as an eBook, this is your chance.

For those reading the Cary Redmond series, or the Demon Witch series, this novella features the demon hunter Aidan in yet another appearance where we see her through someone else's eyes. I love being able to do that with her.

Anger Management is out now!

Demons and vampires just piss her off…

After years of navigating the machinations of a vampire hive as a rare dhampir, Quinn has learned to rein in her anger and manage living in the world between vampires and humans without killing everyone. Mostly. Sometimes her anger even comes in hand. Especially when a legendary demon hunter asks for help. Quinn never refuses a good fight.

But vampires summoning a demon makes no sense. Vampires don’t need to bargain with demons for power or wealth or anything else.

Or do they?

Uncovering the vampire conspiracy while preventing a demon from escaping leads Quinn down a road she never expects to walk. Directly to secrets that could cost her everything.

If she survives the demon.

The New Release for this month is out on August 22nd (less than a week away as this post releases) and is available for preorder everywhere. This is the next story in the Percy James Mystery series. I'm having fun with these so look for more in the future.

Cookie's Can't Crime was actually the first story I wrote in this series, and I liked Percy enough, I decided to write more. This also has a bit of holiday flavor, so if you're anxiously awaiting the November-December holidays, this is a good one to pick up!

Cookies Can't Crime is out August 22.

Welcome to the Azur Regent

Percy James doesn’t normally care which of the winter holidays she gets off. She loves working the front desk at the Azur Regent, a boutique hotel on the Upper East Side of New York City. But this year…this year she needs Christmas.

Getting a holiday off in the hospitality business? Notoriously tough. Getting the holiday you want? Almost impossible. At least with Percy’s manager. But this year, Percy has a plan. Win the annual cookie contest, get Christmas off.

The only problem… Two of the main players in the competition are missing.

Something weird is happening at the Azur Regent.

And Percy James has to figure it out.

NEWS AND LOOK AHEAD

Next month, I'll have another novella from the HAUNTS AND HOWLS WHERE DEMONS DWELL collection releasing as a standalone eBook. Demonic Dates is a sort of tie-in novella with the
Demon Witch series, so for those of you reading that series, this might be a fun one to pick up (if you haven't gotten it in the collection already). It's already up for preorder at Kat Simons Books and at all other eBook Vendors now if you want to make sure you get it on the release day.

And the big release in September is the next Demon Witch novel! STORM SHADOW WITCH is in production now (I'll add the preorder link here when I have it, so check back for that). This one is...well, it went somewhere I wasn't expecting the series to go just yet (although I knew we'd get there eventually) and things happened that surprised me and now I'm super excited for the next book. LOL. I hope readers will enjoy it too!

Full details on the novel next month!

SALE

Finally the sale news!

THE TROUBLE WITH BLACK CATS AND DEMONS, Book 1 in the Cary Redmond series, is on sale for a limited time! Only $0.99 to get this first in series book. If you haven't started the Cary Redmond series, this is a great way to pick up the first book and give it a try.

At the moment, the series has 7 main novels in the series and a tone of short stories and novellas around the main series. And as we speak, I'm writing the 8th book in the main series. So take advantage of this limited time offer and get the first book for only $0.99!

Until next month...Happy Reading!

Second Half of the Year

And I can't believe it's July already! This year is just flying past. I didn't mind that so much in my youth, but now, I'd be happier if things slowed down. *grin*

This month, I have a fun experiment out. A collection of stories, all starting with the same line, all six of them in completely different genres! And they all start with the line (and the question), Who steals a dragon?

Which, when you think about it, is a really good question.

This is what I'm calling a Pick Your Genre collection. A collection for the eclectic reader. The person who reads all kinds of genres, but what they read at any give point really depends on their mood. Well, in this collection, you get to pick the genre you're in the mood for! You can read the collection from start to finish or jump around. No rules! Just a lot of fun stories in different genres about different dragons.

WHO STEALS A DRAGON is out now in eBook, Trade paperback, and Large Print paperback editions!

Who steals a dragon?

That’s a question with a lot of potential answers. And a lot of potential dragons.

And in this collection, bestselling author Kat Simons answers that question in multiple genres, in completely different ways, to suit a reader’s different moods.

Looking for a space adventure? There’s a story for that. Want a little high fantasy? There’s a story for that. In the mood for something more romantic? There’s a story for that.

Enter here to pick your genre. Where thieves, adventurers, trackers, and mercenaries mingle with all different kinds of dragons. Each story a standalone adventure. Each tale a unique answer to the question…

Really…who steals a dragon?!

~~~
I have to say, I think this is one of the coolest interiors I've ever had for a book. And the eBook edition has everything linked to make it easy to jump around to the different genre stories. I hope readers will have as much with the collection as I had fun writing it!
